Access 2007 Import Wizard
I am trying to import a Access2007 database using the import wizard.
The open dialog only shows extensions of *.mdb and does not have *.accdb. I selected all files and received at error: "TITLE: SQL Server Import and Export Wizard ------------------------------ The operation could not be completed. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Unrecognized database format '....accdb'. (Microsoft JET Database Engine) " Can someone tell what I am doing wrong or is this a problem? Why don't you tackle the problem from the other end and use Access to
upsize the database. Go to the External Data tab, click More, ODBC, and follow the prompts from there. --Mary On Wed, 24 Jun 2009 07:43:02 -0700, Ken <K**@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: Show quoteHide quote >I am trying to import a Access2007 database using the import wizard. > >The open dialog only shows extensions of *.mdb and does not have *.accdb. > >I selected all files and received at error: > >"TITLE: SQL Server Import and Export Wizard >------------------------------ >The operation could not be completed. >------------------------------ >ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: >Unrecognized database format '....accdb'. Tried that also, Access 2007 had a error message that it did not recognize the SQL server 10.0. came out before SQLS 2008, which is why. However, the SSMA Migration Assistant is actually a better choice (giving you more control over the migration process) and it works just fine. It's a free download from http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2005/en/us/migration-access.aspx. You also might want to grab the Optimizing Microsoft Office Access Applications Linked to SQL Server paper from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb188204.aspx if you're planning to continue using Access as a front-end to your upsized tables. Although it too was written for earlier versions of SQL Server, not that much has changed in the underlying architecture. --Mary On Wed, 24 Jun 2009 16:54:01 -0700, Ken <K**@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: Show quoteHide quote >Hi Mary, > >Tried that also, Access 2007 had a error message that it did not recognize >the SQL server 10.0. > >Ken > >"Mary Chipman [MSFT]" wrote: > >> Why don't you tackle the problem from the other end and use Access to >> upsize the database.
