Licensing by the month?
I recently came across a client that tells me they have purchased Microsoft SQL Server 2000 licenses in a "pay-as-you-go-scheme". Apparently this is called a Subscriber Access License (SAL) instead of a CAL. I'm told the scheme lets them purchase their 35 licenses over a 6 month period during which time they also recieve software assurance and can adjust their SAL license count. Can anyone point me to a web site (preferably from Microsoft) which has more info on this? I'm also looking for a tool/method which would allow us to monitor the license usage on the network over time so that the number of SALs can be reviewed periodically. Is there such a way to do this? Thanks in advance. -- Marty Marty wrote on Wed, 15 Mar 2006 19:44:26 -0800:
